In honour of Easter coming up this week's fun fact is about egg shell colours. Eggs come in a variety of colours besides the two you can find in the store (brown & white). Sadly this picture isn't mine but you can see the variety of colours that hens can lay, from white to creams and browns to greens and blues. The question is often asked, do the eggs taste different or have different nutritional value, the answer is no. They just come from different breeds of chickens who's genes specify which colour they will lay. However, taste and nutritional value are greatly affected by how the hen is raised and what she eats.
